JULIAN BARRAN HAS SPENT A LIFETIME WORKING IN THE ART WORLD. 

The first 23 years of his career were spent with Sotheby’s, where he eventually ran the company's operations for the entirety of France, based in Paris. 

Julian's experience permits him to offer authoritative opinions and valuations on paintings, drawings, watercolours and sculpture executed from the early 19th century to the end of the 20th century. It also allows him to give accurate values for insurance, probate and family division.

Julian travels widely in Europe, the United States and Russia on behalf of his clients in order to view pictures and sculpture. He delivers the highest level of expertise, confidentiality and professional integrity at competitive rates.

Julian was responsible for selling the Diaghilev archive from the Parmenia Ekstrom collection to the Theatre Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and an important Delacroix oil to the Metropolitan museum. He has also sold paintings to the Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg, including a Soutine self-portrait.
